Privacy Policy — Local AI Chat

Last updated: August 18, 2026

Local AI Chat ("the app") is a local network client for self-hosted AI language model servers (such as Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp, text-generation-webui, KoboldCpp, or any OpenAI-compatible server) that you run yourself on a computer on your own Wi-Fi network.

Data collection and storage

The app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with the developer or any third party. Specifically:

Network communication

The only network communication the app performs is a direct connection, over your local Wi-Fi network, between your device and the AI model server you configure. This connection goes to an address you enter yourself — it is never sent to the developer or to any server operated by the developer. Because self-hosted local AI servers are typically run without a TLS certificate, this connection uses unencrypted HTTP, the same as connecting to any other device on your home network (for example, a printer or a smart TV admin page).

Permissions

The app requests only the Internet (network access) permission, which is required to connect to your local AI server. No other device permissions (camera, microphone, location, contacts, storage, etc.) are requested or used.

Children's privacy

The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all.
